Research Scientist Position
Do you possess hands-on laboratory and invitro experience, a keen interest to understand the clinical translation of NP technology, an outstanding attention to scientific detail and the desire to contribute to break through T2D therapy? Adipo Therapeutics, an Indiana-based, small business, is seeking a dedicated scientist to facilitate its mission of developing a clinically translatable technology platform of polymer-based Notch-inhibiting nanoparticles (NP) as a safe, tolerable and effective treatment for type 2 diabetes (T2D) and obesity. You will contribute to research focused on developing the therapy in close collaboration with the company founder, Meng Deng, PhD. A substantial focus of the role will be the supporting the optimization of the NP formulation, and in vitro evaluation of the therapy.
Adipo Therapeutics, is an Indiana-based, small business developing a clinically translatable technology platform of polymer-based Notch-inhibiting nanoparticles, injected directly into adipose tissue, to induce beige adipocyte biogenesis as a safe, tolerable and effective treatment for type 2 diabetes (T2D) and obesity. The Adipo therapy is currently in preclinical development.
The position will be located in dedicated lab space at the Indiana Bioscience Research Institute (IBRI) in Indianapolis. The research team will be sharing open office and lab space on the same floor as the IBRI Diabetes Center (IDC) at IU School of Medicine’s Biotechnology Research & Training Center (BRTC) in Indianapolis.
The Research Scientist will support the founder and lead scientist, Meng Deng, PhD, in the formulation and in vitro evaluation of Notch inhibiting nanoparticles (NP) to optimize the formulation. Specific responsibilities include:
·Evaluation of NP size and zeta potential
·NP cell cultures
·qPCR, Western Blot, TEM imaging
·Record, analyze and communicate scientific data.
·MS required, PhD preferred, in polymer science, chemistry, materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, bioengineering, pharmaceutical science, or other related areas
·Strong research interest in drug delivery and nanoparticle development
·Ability to work independently
·Experience in cell culture and analysis
·Strong data analysis and organizational skills.
·Able to clearly communicate data and work independently in order craft and troubleshoot experiments.
·Track record of research experience in design and evaluation of polymeric drug delivery systems as evidenced by high quality publications.
·Experience in utilizing high content imaging equipment (e.g. fluorescence microscope, TEM)
·Experience developing protocols and analyzing images to generate study reports and figures.
