Fireside Chat with Academic Entrepreneur

“Talking Out of School: How Big Ideas Jump from Classroom to Boardroom”

Silicon Valley was built on the brilliance and boldness of academic entrepreneurs. The media loves to talk about the famous drop-outs who spawned unicorns, but the genius contained in school faculties has also driven trillions of dollars of profit and innovation. Many schools now recognize the incredible synergy that comes from academic entrepreneurship, and have IP deals with faculty. Some, like Stanford, have even set up their own incubators. I can’t help you find the next big idea, but I can tell you how to turn it into the next big start-up. I’ll tell you what VCs look for, and what you should look for if you’re raising money.
